Shane McDonald | Co-Founder & Director
Shane is an internationally recognised industry pioneer with 2 decades of experience within the industry. He is a qualified Industrial Refrigeration and Controls Engineer and has project managed many large industrial sites from the dairy sector through to underground mine installations. Shane is responsible for research and development at Calibrate.
Susie McDonald | Co-Founder & Director
Susie is a passionate leader who is dedicated to the sustainable growth of Calibrate. She has experience both in start-up and established businesses. Susie is responsible for the strategy for Calibrate, focussing on the growth of the business in terms of team development, financial sustainability and service offering.
Gary Matthews | Managing Director
Gary joined Calibrate with an extensive technical/project management background and an MBA from Teesside University. After 15 years as an MD of manufacturing and sales companies in the UK and USA, previous to joining Calibrate, he spent 3 years as Global VP for sales for an international organisation.
Gary is focussed on continuing the pioneering work carried out by Calibrate and growing the business to the next level, including entering new untapped markets.
Chris Allcock | Financial Controller
After many years working as an auditor, Chris moved into Industry 30 years ago working in a number of different financial roles within a number of different sectors including family-owned businesses in the leisure industry, SME companies in distribution and multi-national engineering companies. Chris oversees all the financial accounting for the whole of Calibrate Group.
Chris Unsworth | Operations Manager
A Sergeant Major with 20 years’ experience in the Army managing international multi-faceted engineering projects. With a degree in Aerospace Engineering and trained in LEAN principles Chris is passionate about increasing efficiency within organisations. At Calibrate Chris is responsible for the Operation side of the company ensuring that projects meet client expectations, timeframes and budgets, Chris brings discipline and structure to the role.
Jack Smales | Managing Director
Jack is a natural problem solver providing solutions that exceed client expectations. Jack’s ‘hands on’ experience with project delivery at Calibrate has given him the knowledge to lead up the commercial side of the business. Jack has worked his way up at Calibrate overseeing sales and operational functions resulting in his promotion to Commercial Director in December 2022. Jack is responsible for the HR and financial function at Calibrate.
Louise Tate | Financial Controller
Louise brings 20 years of experience organising accounts and HR for multi- million pound turnover businesses. At Calibrate Louise brings attention to detail and natural organisation to her role and is responsible for the debtors, creditors, budget and banking.
Liesa Stephenson | Admin Support
Having worked as legal secretary for a number of years, Liesa combines her attention to detail with a high level of organisation and a passion for seeing tasks through to completion. At Calibrate she is responsible for Accounts and Administration.
Emma Tandy | Business & Marketing Manager
Emma has 25 years’ marketing, communications and project management experience with a latter career in continuous improvement facilitation. At Calibrate, she puts this to good use helping to streamline the day-to-day business function, supporting compliance and legislation and overseeing internal and external marketing and communications.

Mathew Logan | Project Manager
Mathew is an organised leader providing motivation onsite to exceed expectations ahead of time and on budget. A solution finder at Calibrate, Mathew is responsible for project logistics. Projects logistics and the installations being completed on time and on budget. With 100% success to date Mathew uses his excellent communication skills to ensure delivery targets are met.
Lee Hellens | Electrical Manager
In previous positions Lee has been a Project manager and Project engineer, understanding the importance of project timeframes. Lee has 15 years of electrical and controls experience and also has extensive experience in software development and code writing, competently manages his team to design and implement a bespoke control solution for each Calibrate site to ensure optimum operation and maximises tariff generation.
Harvey Arrowsmith | Mechanical Engineer
At Calibrate Harvey is responsible for the successful design of projects to the final outcome. As part of the internal audit team Harvey ensures the components specified and his drawings are correctly created. Harvey is energetic and passionate about mechanical design, problem solving until he is positive the best design has been delivered.
Adam Crosby | Operations Director
Adam brings a wealth of technical and project management experience to the role, having previously led teams consisting of operations, logistics, engineers, technical staff, sales and customer service. He is accustomed to tight timeframes, meticulous planning and delivering optimal performance in both the team and projects. He also demonstrates vast knowledge in health and safety and QA systems. Adam leads the operational and sales team at Calibrate and oversees responsibility for Calibrate’s ISO9001 accreditation.
Martins Yves | Internal Sales Manager
Martins leads the internal sales team to meet their KPIs and ensure that the sales process runs seamlessly.

An electrical engineer by background, Ryan is leading up our technical sales function at Calibrate.
Paul Watson | Lead Maintenance Engineer
James Grieve | Sales & Administration Support
James’ process driven background allows him to support the sales team with administration as well as implement and develop the team’s CRM.
Phil Shotton | Maintenance & Service Engineer
With experience in the gas and oil industry, Phil was promoted from our sister company, SDS, to support maintenance services at Calibrate.
Lewis Anderson | Electrical Engineer
Lewis sits across the maintenance and projects side of the business as an electrical engineer.
Morgan Stewart | Electrician
Morgan is an apprentice electrician who is supporting various areas in order to develop multiple specialist skills across the business.
Cassie Cookson | Operations & Logistics Associate
Cassie supports the co-ordination of operations projects and looks after internal health and safety.
